submission guidelines

berlin lit is currently closed for submissions. The latest submissions window closed 10/10/2025. Submissions sent after this will not be considered.

We accept poetry in English from all over the world.

We currently do not accept translations.

Before submitting, we encourage you to read previous issues of the journal to get an idea of the kind of poetry we publish.

Subject: issue ten. Please include the words ‘issue ten’ in the subject header of your email.

Please submit up to 5 previously unpublished poems in English in an attachment (PDF or doc.) or in the body of the email. Please do not send documents using ‘Pages’.

Use a standard 12-pt font (Times New Roman, for example).

Tell us a little bit about yourself in a brief third person biography in the body of the email. Include a cover letter if you like, but it’s not essential.

Email your submission to [email protected]

berlin lit pays contributors 20 euro per poem. Our preferred payment method is PayPal.

We welcome simultaneous submissions, but should your poems be accepted elsewhere, please notify us as soon as you can by replying to your original email, not to our email acknowledging the arrival of your submission.

If you’ve already had a poem published in berlin lit, please wait 12 months after publication before submitting again.

Expect to hear back from us within 6 to 8 weeks after the closing date of the submissions period. This can vary slightly according to the volume of submissions, but we do our best to reply as soon as possible.

As we are a very small team, we are not able to provide feedback on your poems.
