Prayer for My Future Husband

Make him a gambler, a prophet                   a buyer of raspberries
teach him to        slam a shadow              solder the car door
Make him a giant monstera plant                 rustling a broom
round his tumbleweed words        let all that testosterone     grow him
black shoes to dig        into the earth                  no more strength
than what he needs to hold       honeysuckle with       Yes God give him
gemstones         held in mathematical hands      give him no doubt
that women care for money          make him a prince         a silkworm
a serf on a white horse       Make him the horse     cantering my name
in dark basements           and when he comes, Lord                 give him
a care for me      give him two dark eyes                   crossing always
towards the sea              give him two hearts         one to be fearsome
one to be fearful with                  give him gold teeth           A last name
lovelier                   for my loss
